Haley Parsley
Award-winning investigative & accountability journalist
Whether I’m spending months digging into an investigation or finding an unexpected angle on a daily story, I look for ways to make complicated subjects accessible and meaningful to readers.
Most recently, I covered two Sacramento suburbs as a watchdog reporter for The Sacramento Bee, digging into housing and zoning policy, tax disputes, and police surveillance.
While in graduate school, I investigated the fallout from an intensifying immigration crackdown in Maryland. My work appeared in The Washington Post, The Baltimore Banner and Maryland Matters. After one investigation documented the difficulties families faced recovering cars left behind after ICE arrests, Prince George’s County passed emergency legislation addressing the problem.
I earned my master’s degree in journalism from the University of Maryland, where I was a fellow at the Howard Center for Investigative Journalism.
